Lower Back Pain – Chronic

There are many sources of chronic lower back pain. Mostly, it occurs when acute sprain is left untreated, a repeated sprain, or when the muscle and sinew becomes strained. Additionally, chronic lower lumbar ligamentous strain, spondylosis, spinal osteoarthritis and prolapsed lumbar disc can also causes pain.

According to Chinese Medicine theory, a deficiency of the kidney is the source of pain since the waist is the house to the kidney. Whereas kidney deficiency, damaged genital tissues in the pelvic cavity can cause pain in the kidney(s). Note that muscular and/or skeletal damage is not the only source of lower back pain.

The kidneys are correlated with the bladder and leading to the foot taiyang channel in the lumbar area which circulates amongst the related muscle regions. This results in pain and soreness. If there is a kidney deficiency, loss or weakness in the foot taiyang channel’s energy or invasion of the wind-damp channel in the waist.

Lower back soreness, in its worst form can travel to the entire back, partial back, buttocks, thigh, calf and even down to the sole of the foot. Pain is aggravated during cold, damp and raining weather but alleviated during movement but soon after it becomes stiff and has a “pulling”sensation. The pain is aggravated when one is tired along with pressing on the location due.
